Day 4: Made to last forever.

Mixed feelings on this chapter. Am quite a believer about life after death and I like the notion of living for eternity but I don’t like the notion that if you don’t “learn to love and trust Jesus Christ” you will go to hell. So… if you live your life in a good Christian way but never built that relationship you go to hell? Likewise, you do love and trust Jesus Christ but you live a mortal life of evil, you go to heaven? This makes me sad that I will not be with all those I love in eternity. The focus on eternity also seems to minimize our current lives. The verse from the bible quoted as our Verse to Remember today says “But if you do the will of God, you will live forever”. I have an easier time understanding and accepting this. Is loving and trusting Jesus Christ and doing the will of God the same thing? Maybe. Maybe I’m just splitting hairs. Ready to read more.

Point to Ponder: “There is more to life then just here and now.”

Question to Consider: “Since I was made to last forever, what is the one thing I should stop doing and the one thing I should start doing today?” Well, if my ticket to a life of eternity is building a relationship with Jesus and doing the will of God, then this would be the first thing I better do. I guess the one thing I should stop doing is worrying about my work situation because that seems less important in the whole scheme of things.

  1. I applaud your commitment and your accountability.

As to this entry: I'm not sure you could have a close relationship with Jesus and live an evil life.

  2. I believe it is not the end of it all when death comes, i.e., we go to somewhere else or become something else. May be there are Christian heaven and Christian hell. May be there are Buddhist heaven and Buddhist hell. May be we becomes some elemental particles etc etc. Different people have different ideas and we are free to choose. But one thing I am certain of is this, if you wanted to go to Christian heaven, you need a Christian visa and that's only available from Jesus.
